THE NEED FOR BLOOD

Blood donation has become a major concern to the society as donated blood is lifesaving for individuals who need it most on a daily basis, Moi University has become one of the most supporting fraternity in the blood donation program that has been conducted several times by the Kenya Red Cross officials around the students’ center.
For the past few days, comrades have been seen queuing around the students’ center with the aim of donating blood just to save a life that would otherwise perish for blood.

An official from the Kenya Red Cross Society confirmed to the 3rd eye that after collecting blood, it is taken to the Kenya National Blood Transfusion Services located in major hospitals countrywide ( for this case blood is taken to Eldoret branch, a few meters from Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital), after which they are tested to confirm the blood group and purity, finally blood used for different needs that arise within the hospitals around that particular location to save people’s treasure (live).
Blood donation is an activity usually carried out to an individual when he/she voluntarily agrees for blood to be drawn with the intention of donating it. This has become a common activity in our society, and you are encouraged to donate blood. According to the medical experts, this activity comes with a number of benefit including; reduced risk for heart diseases and cancer as well.
